Sending Sunshine with Spellbinders

Hello again my crafty friend! It’s June. The sun is shining, and the air is warm; life is good. I made a few clean and simple cards that reflect my mood with Spellbinders’ new Small Die of the Month, and Clear Stamp of the Month. They coordinate perfectly, and offer a ton of combinations for bright and cheerful cards.

Let’s start with my sunray card. I cut a dozen rays from a bright yellow cardstock and adhered them to a white A2 panel. To help space the rays out evenly, I marked a horizontal pencil line about 2″ down from the top, and a vertical line down the center. After gluing four rays over the lines, I was able to eyeball the spacing for the rest (two rays between each of the first four). Next, I trimmed the panel to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ and mounted it to a white A2 card base with foam tape. For decoration, I cut three each of the leafy dies from white paper and nestled them under the dark yellow die cut circle that had been embossed with a white sentiment. The circle is popped up with more foam tape and the leaves only have glue near the center, so the tips are loose. A few scattered gold gems finish the card. Isn’t it neat?

Now let’s talk about the sunny desert mini-slimline. I started with a 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ white panel and lined up the sun and sentiment stamps in my Misti. After stamping them with Versamark ink, I embossed them with white powder. Then, I blended Fossilized Amber ink in a circle over them. Next, I taped off the horizon and blended Salvaged Patina on the ground. I glued the panel onto a 2 5/8″ x 5 5/8″ mint panel, and popped them up with foam tape onto a yellow 3 1/4″ x 6 1/4″ mini-slimline card base. To decorate the card, I die cut the saguaro cactus from more mint cardstock and embossed it with several coats of Enchanted Gold embossing powder. After gluing it next to the sentiment, I added a few gold gems for more shimmer. This card fits into a #7 coin envelope.

I love how both of these cards turned out, and I have ideas for at least a dozen more cards with the Small Die of the Month, and Clear Stamp of the Month from Spellbinders. If you’d like to play with them too, be sure to order by June 24th to receive these stamps and dies (after the 24th, they will ship you July’s instead).

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back soon with more fun cards to share. We’re almost done with the craft room remodel, so I’ll be sharing a tour after I get everything moved back in. With hardwired internet in there now, I should be able to go live on YouTube more often. And stay tuned for a very special collaboration next week!
