Box of Cookies Cards

Hello crafty friend! I’m back with another fun pair of Christmas cards today. These we’re really fun to make, and even though they have a few more parts, they came together pretty quick because they don’t involve any coloring. (Well, unless you count the little bit of ink blending.)

Unlike many of the cards I make, the fronts are simple, setting the stage for the big reveal inside.

To make these cards, I started by embossing the bird cookie stamp in the Christmas Sweets stamp set with white powder on kraft cardstock multiple times. Using my Scan N Cut, I cut them out with a small border. (You can also use the coordinating die, or fussy cut them.) Then, I quickly blended Distress Oxide ink in Rusty Hinge and Walnut Stain around the edges.

With the cookies ready, it was time to create the “boxes.” (They’re not actually boxes, just flat cards that look like boxes from the top.) I cut 4 1/8″ x 12″ strips of tracing paper and gate folded them to fit inside white A2 card bases. Using foam tape, and lining everything up on my grid mat, I attached the cookies inside the tracing paper. (If you don’t have tracing paper, you can substitute vellum.)

To keep the glue from showing when I adhered the tracing paper inside the card, I only applied it behind the foam tape. This is also the time to stamp the inner sentiment, before you add uneven card fronts.

To create the pink pastry boxes, I cut A2 panels of pink cardstock. Then, taped pieces of twine across them. (To minimize bulk, I untwisted the twine on the back side, before taping it down.) Then I glued them to the card fronts.

After embossing sentiments on die cut kraft circles, and holly clusters on vellum, I tied them to the center of the card fronts.

The Christmas Sweets stamp set has lots of sentiment options. I changed things up between my cards. One is sweet, the other is a little risqué.

  1. For the holiday I actually make real cookies. These are a cute idea to add when giving out my cookies!
