Card in a Card

Hello my crafty friend; it’s the first Tuesday of the month, and that means it’s time for the new Heffy Doodlers Challenge! It’s always fun to find a hidden surprise tucked in here or there. So this month, we’re playing with doors, windows, and pockets.

For the inspirational card, I created a mini card and envelope that I attached to the front of my card. When you pull out the little card, you find a secret message. As far as interactive cards go, this one is really quick and easy. Using the new Slimline Mini Mail die set, I cut out the tiny square envelope, matching card, the word HI (three times), and a few tiny hearts from mint and white cardstock. Instead of a full size slimline card, I wanted to create a mini-slimline. So using the partial die cutting technique, I cut the top half of the postage slimline panel from mint cardstock. Then, I shifted the die to shorten the panel and cut the bottom half. My panel measures 3 1/4″ x 6 3/8.” After gluing on a 2 3/4″ x 5 7/8″ grey panel, I stamped and embossed a sentiment from the Close At Heart stamp set near the middle. I stamped a coordinating sentiment from the same set inside my tiny card, then folded it up and tucked it inside the envelope, before gluing it on. The word HI was stacked three layers high for more dimension, and glued in place. After adhering the tiny hearts across the panel, I popped it up with foam tape and attached it to a 3 1/2″ x 6 5/8″ white card base. A few scattered gems add sparkle and finish it up. Isn’t it cute? And man, was it quick to assemble.

What do you think of the color combo? I really like the way the mint and grey work together. If you’d like to use this combo, you can find these colors in the Heffy Doodle Mixed Cardstock Pack (Mix 1). I should note, this card is a little larger than the mini-slimline cards I usually make. Luckily, there is a die set for a #10 envelope. It will need to be shortened to fit this card, just like I shortened the postage panel.

I hope I’ve inspired you to play along with the challenge this month. Head on over to the Heffy Doodlers Facebook group and enter your card to win! Details are in the June 2021 Challenge Album (it will be pinned to the top). One lucky winner will receive a £35.00 voucher to the Heffy Doodle Shop

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Since today is also the first of the month, I’m sharing a pair of llamazing cards for the new i-crafter release in a separate post. Be sure to check them out! I’ll be back later this week with another fun card to share too. Oh, and a quick garage remodel update – we’re almost done!!! The walls are framed, new windows and a door have been installed. We insulated, drywalled, and painted. Stucco repair is finished. Electrical and water lines are in place. The cabinets are mostly assembled, and will be installed next weekend. Floors and countertops will go in a few days later. Then we can start moving things back in; I can’t wait! I’ll post a tour on YouTube when everything is done, but you can follow our progress in my Instagram stories.
