Cheerful Christmas Penguins

Hello my crafty friend! I’m really excited to share this sweet holiday card with you today, as part of the Heartcraft Paper November 2018 release and blog hop! The new release features a slew of adorable penguins and some great sentiments. At the bottom, you’ll find links to the other blogs in the hop. Make sure to check out all of the awesome projects the team is sharing!

Since I decided to use my penguins for a Christmas card, I wanted to keep the design simple and easy to mass produce. This time of year, we don’t always have time to make intricate cards for everyone on our list, but that doesn’t mean we have to make boring cards either.

For my card, I arranged three of my penguin digi-stamps onto a quarter sheet, leaving enough room below them for a diecut sentiment. I printed four card fronts per page, then cut them apart and added the stitched border with a die from Heffy Doodle. I colored my penguins with alcohol markers and lightly sponged on some yellow ink around the edges of the card front. Next, I added a little Wink of Stella onto the champagne in the glass, the bottle label, and around the yellow edges. For the sentiment, I diecut “Christmas” three times from red cardstock and “cheer” three times from green cardstock. I glued the layers together and used coordinating markers to add shading to the bottom of the words. I added more Wink of Stella to the word “cheer” and glued my sentiment in place. Finally, I glued my card front onto an A2 card base and added a little Glossy Accents to my bottle, glass, and the center penguin’s necklace. That’s it – easy peasy! You could whip out quite a few of these in an afternoon. BTW…only 55 days until Christmas…you’re welcome… 😉

(Why, oh why, is Wink of Stella invisible to cameras? It’s there, I promise.)

Heartcraft Paper sells digi-stamps and .SVG files (cut files for Cricut, Scan’NCut, etc…). If you are new to digi-stamps, I encourage you to give them a try! You can resize images to suit your needs. You print them out, so you get a “perfect impression” every time. And it’s easy to print a mirror image if you want a reversed or double-sided image (think water reflection, or spinner cards). They can also save you a lot of time! Think about how fast your printer spits out a page and compare that to how long it takes you to stamp a whole page (or a bunch of pages). For mass production of holiday cards, digi-stamps are the way to go! Also, alcohol markers are compatible with all laser printers, as well as most of the black inks in inkjet printers. And since most printers will print on lighter weight cardstock or watercolor paper, you can make the same quality cards you do with traditional stamps. Here are links to the adorable new penguin digi-stamps in this month’s release:
