Lifesavers Sneak Peek

Hello my crafty friend, I’ve got exciting news to share. I’m officially joining the Kindred Stamps design team for the fall! If you aren’t familiar with them, they make pop culture stamps. The images are fan art, based on popular stories and characters. Therefore, you won’t see me reference any specific character or story names. You’ll probably recognize many of your favorites though! I’m thrilled to be joining such a talented group…

Today, I get to share my first set of cards featuring images and sentiments from the new Lifesavers stamp set. This set, along with the entire Kindred Stamps September release will be available Friday, September 27th at 8am PST/11am EST. Be sure to subscribe to the Kindred Stamps blog to see a daily line up of sneak peeks from the rest of the amazing design team and see the full product release on Friday! Come join the Fan Club and release event to be part of the fun, and you just may win some Kindred Stamps credit!!

My first card is a pill-shaped shaker card. I used my ScanNCut to help me cut the card base out, as well as the shaker frame, acetate window pieces, and stamped characters. I colored the characters with Copic markers and left a narrow border around them to help make them pop. The sentiment was stamped onto the acetate window with white Staz-On ink and the shaker is filled with tiny marbles. I’ll have a full length video on how to assemble the card, along with free cut files that I created for the shaped card soon. Since this is a sneak peek post, I’ll just show you the finished card in action…

The second card is for my bother-in-law (I hope he doesn’t see this before I give it to him 😉 ) I really wanted to focus on the sentiment and I was inspired by several cards I saw on Pinterest. I decided to mimic a scrub shirtfront with a stethoscope draped around the neck. To pull off the look, I grabbed random dies from my stash to help me create the pieces. Would you believe the stethoscope’s earbuds and connection joint are cut from a barbecue die set? Can you see the fork and mushrooms? When you’re creating objects or scenes with dies, I encourage you to rifle through your own stash and look for shapes that will help you get the idea across. You don’t have to be exact, often times the suggestion is enough. Can you guess where the other dies came from?

So what do you think? These are fun, right?! Hop on over to the Release Event on Facebook to see lots more inspiration with the new Lifesavers stamp set. And remember, it’ll be available Friday! Thanks for stopping by today; I’ll be back soon with another fun card…
