Merry Pigmas & Hoggy Holidays!

It’s day 2 of The Rabbit Hole Designs‘ inspiration hop to celebrate the new release and I can’t wait to show you what I made with the Merry Pigmas and Hoggy Holidays sets! The punny sentiments and unique images are sow much fun to play with (sorry, I couldn’t help myself).

For both of my cards, I started by stamping, embossing, and Copic coloring my images. I added some white, gold, and copper gel pen highlights, and I coated the reindeer piggy’s glasses with Diamond Glaze (before adding the white highlight on top). I used my ScanNCut to fussy cut the images, but there are coordinating dies if you prefer.

For the Hoggy Holidays card, I ink blended a soft background of Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Distress Oxide ink over my Candy Twist Stencil, then embossed my sentiment. I didn’t want my little piggies to look like they were floating, so I used a grey marker to add some shading under them. Since I cut them out with a narrow border, I decided to add grey to the white area around the bottom of their feet too, to keep them in the scene and not make them look like they were hovering above their shadows. For a little more dimension, I popped the left pig up with foam tape and glued on a smattering of green flat-backed gems.

The Merry Pigmas card came together pretty quickly too. Instead of ink blending a whole background, I used the new Light Me Up Stencil and a little Glintz Glitter Gel to add a few quick snowflakes to a blue card front. I die cut a pair of pine trees and a stitched hillside from white cardstock and brushed on Aqua Shimmer highlights to add some interest. I assembled the scene, stamped and embossed the sentiment at the bottom of the panel, and trimmed it down to leave a border of card base exposed. This pig is popped up with foam tape too, but on this card, I decided the scene had enough shine from all of the glitter and I didn’t need to add any gems or sequins.

I really like these little piggies and I think they are so different from other holiday sets out there right now. Wouldn’t it be fun to make interactive cards where the skiing pig glides down a mountain, or the Rudolph pig’s nose lights up? Ready to see what the rest of the team made with these little cuties? Hop along with us, and don’t forget to comment along the way for your chance to win!
