Other Uses for Paper Craft Supplies with i-crafter

Hey crafty friends, tattoo week continues on my blog with some fun projects featuring the new Rose Heart die set from i-crafter. Normally, I make cards, but I wanted to show you how you can stretch your supplies and use paper craft tools for non-paper things too!

Like many people recently, my travel plans for a large portion of the year have changed. And while I’m sorry that I can’t go meet up with crafty friends like I was planning to, I’m thankful that my friends and family are healthy and safe. Hopefully, we’ll be able to knock this virus out soon and things can start going back to normal. When they do, I’m looking forward to traveling again! In preparation, I made a neat travel set.

Luggage Tag

First up, I made myself a luggage tag. For anyone who owns a black suitcase, and has tried to find it as comes down the luggage carousel, you know how tricky that can be. A bright luggage tag will make your life easier! This was really simple to make too. I backed some red, green, and black felt with double-sided adhesive sheets, leaving the release paper in place. I die cut the Rose Heart from black and red felt. I cut a solid outline of the rose from more black felt. Then, I cut a few green leaves, and black leaf details. I inlaid the red petals into the black outline of the rose, and stuck them to the solid black heart, with a little extra wet glue to reinforce the adhesive sheet. I also tucked in a few leaves, and a strip of black felt folded in half, with a nice lobster clasp. On the back side, I added die cut letters from the new Carly Alphabet die set. Most people would add their initials, but my middle name starts with an S, so traditional monogramming doesn’t work for me 😉

Headphone Holder

I can’t tell you how many pairs of overpriced headphones I’ve bought in the last few years, because I always forget them at home. No more! I designated a pair for travel only, and made this little leaf holder to coordinate with my set. I just cut a pair of green leaves, added the black detail layer on top, and stitched some gold elastic to the back. My earbuds stay cinched up securely and they now live in my travel bag.

Cell Phone Charging Pocket

Sometimes when I’m traveling, there isn’t a table near an outlet to charge my phone. I made this handy little pocket to hold my phone while it charges. As an added bonus, I’m less likely to remember to forget my charger when I check out. (Either that, or forget my phone too.) I cut the pocket a little wider than my phone, and tall enough to allow the phone to sit below the charger. Just like I did for the luggage tag, I cut and inlaid the Rose Heart and leaves and adhered them to the front pocket panel. I used red embroidery thread and a blanket stitch to connect and decorate the pocket pieces. I used a label die from my stash to cut the opening for my charger. You want to make sure the opening is larger than your charger, so it can rest on top of the unit when plugged in. You don’t want the fabric to slip between the wall and the charger, where it might touch the prongs plugged into the wall. That could be a fire hazard.

What do you think of my projects? Maybe a bit of wishful thinking? I love them and can’t wait to put them to use. I might even make a few more for gift sets. Ready for more inspiration with the new products from i-crafter this month? Hop along with the design team for tons of great ideas!
