Rawrsome Collection

Kelly and I are back with another set of cards for the June Get Kids Crafty blog hop! If you want to hop along with us, all of the links are below. This month the theme is dinosaurs and we made cards using the Rawrsome digi-stamps from Beth Duff Designs. This is such a fun set to play with and it’s a Get Kids Crafty exclusive, so a portion of each sale will go toward art based scholarships!

First up is Kelly’s fun card. She decided to go for a tropical dinosaur theme. She layered a strip of patterned paper onto a rose gold card base. She popped up a strip of green cardstock that had leaves die cut from it (the negative space). It is a great use of paper that otherwise might have ended up in the trash. She colored her dinosaur and cut it out with the Scan ‘N Cut. She used foam tape to pop up her dinosaur and heart layers. The sentiment makes this card ready for almost any occasion. Kelly is planning on using this card for Father’s Day.

For my card, I decided to build a scene and I used all of the dinosaurs in the set. I used stitched border dies and a mountain range die, all inked with Distress Oxide inks, to created the background. I die cut my palm trees and colored them in, along with my digi-stamps. I added some brown marker lines over the Distress ink on my mountain range to tie it in with the volcano from the digi set. I used the Scan ‘N Cut to cut out my digi-stamps and outlined them with a black Sharpie, then added Wink of Stella for a little sparkle. I used foam tape and liquid glue to put my scene together. To finish my card, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut a piece of black embossed cardstock and glued it to my card base. My sentiment was a little too long for my banner die, so I cut it in half and layered the heart on top; you can’t even see the seam that way! I cut the banner and heart both out of white cardstock and colored them with the same markers before stamping them so they would coordinate better. The final touch was a coat of Glossy Accents on the lava. I always try to leave that step for last because it takes a few hours to dry.

Now that school’s out for the summer, Kelly and I have big crafting plans! Have you got any summer crafting projects in mind?
